CLBC 2009 General Assembly ends on a note of total satisfaction

2009 General Assembly of Church of the Lutheran Brethren of Cameroon (CLBC) held from March 9th to 15th at FIGUIL, 100 km away from Garoua, Regional Capital of northern Cameroon ended with a good number of resolutions arrived at by the two hundred and twenty one delegates who turned out on the occasion with the sole aim of giving a new direction to their Church.

LWF Africa Pre-Assembly Planning Committee Inaugurated in Abuja,Nigeria

A ten-man National Planning Committee has been inaugurated for the forthcoming LWF Africa regional Pre-Assembly holding in Abuja, Nigeria in March,2010,with ninety-eight delegates expected from all the Lutheran churches in Africa.

Rev Goyek receiving the Pope at Nsimalen Aiport -yaoundéCameroon, a country with 40% of its population which are catholic believers was honoured last March 17th, 2009 to receive the first ever visit of Benedict the XVI in Africa since he ascended as the 265th Pope of the Roman Catholic Church in 2005. In order to give him a befitting welcome, a hectic crowd turned out en mass at Yaoundé Nsimalen International Airport and in the streets of the Capital town of Cameroon, thus creating an unprecedented religious jamboree.

Lutherans in Zimbabwe celebrate God’s presence in Praise, Worship and Fellowship.

The Chegato Lutheran Mission school ground was filled to capacity as more than 5000 members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Zimbabwe (ELCZ) attended the annual National Revival service recently.  They travelled from all corners of Zimbabwe to praise, worship and fellowship together under the theme "And they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth" John 4:24

LWF Africa

The LWF communion in Africa includes 30 member churches in 22 countries, with a combined membership of 14.98 million at the end of 2005. Six churches have a membership over 500,000 and ten churches have fewer than 25,000 members.

The Africa area desk (based in Geneva) accompanies LWF member churches in their holistic ministries through programs and projects that respond to particular concerns of church life in the region and specific priorities identified by the member churches.
